About Dave Almy

Dave Almy, an accomplished architect with hundreds of projects to his credit during a 47-year career, has developed a reputation as an architectural delineator who has put that ability to work as a house portrait watercolorist.  Dave paints house portraits primarily in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, but has also painted houses in Arizona, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, New York City, Long Island, Pennsylvania, North and South Carolina, and West Virginia. He has also painted houses in England and the Bahamas.  He has illustrated three books.

A few of the house portraits have included antique automobiles, family pets, proposed house additions and proposed trees and other plantings.

Dave's architectural background is evident in his attention to detail in the many house portraits he has painted. His medium is water color on graphite, painted on high quality cold press watercolor board, matted, and suitable for framing. Many of his paintings have been reproduced as greeting cards, letterhead, stationery, and invitations for special events.

His paintings are prepared from photographs, taken by Dave for houses located in the Washington metropolitan area or from photographs supplied by the home owners in the case of houses located outside of the metro area.

Many of the portraits were prepared and purchased as part of the “Drawing for Art” program at Strathmore Hall Arts Center in Rockville, Maryland. >See his work
